Mamata Leads March to Rashtrapati Bhavan, Shiv Sena and AAP Follow
Mamata’s TMC has demanded a rollback of the Centre’s demonetisation move.
Aam Aadmi Party, National Conference and NDA ally Shiv Sena were among major political parties that participated in a march against demonetisation led by the Trinamool Congress.
In a major show of strength, Mamata Banerjee , the Chief Minister of West Bengal, walked from Parliament to Rashtrapati Bhavan demanding a roll back in the centre’s decision to abolish currency notes worth Rs 500 and Rs 1000.
Addressing a presser after meeting President Pranab Mukherjee, Banerjee said that the centre’s demonetisation drive was a ‘big black scam’. Referring to cash-less ATMs, the Bengal CM bantered that the meaning of ATM had changed to ‘Aayega toh milaga’ .
Earlier in the day, Party lawmaker and Kolkata strongman Sudip Bandyopadhay said the “government’s move is hasty” and should be reconsidered. His words found resonance in the Shiv Sena , which blamed the Modi government for its shoddy implementation of the demonetisation move.
Supporting Mamata’s cause was AAP, whose controversial lawmaker called for concrete steps against big players like Vijay Mallya.
