On day two of King of Jordan Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein’s visit to India, the Union Cabinet cleared several pacts – including cooperation in the field of health, manpower, customs and mining – between India and Jordan.

King Abdullah II of Jordan was received by President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi on Thursday, 1 March. He was honoured with a ceremonial reception.

Abdullah II and Modi delivered addresses on the theme, 'Islamic Heritage and promoting Understanding and Moderation', at New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan.

The fight against terrorism, extremism and radicalisation is not directed against any religious belief. It is against a mentality that leads gullible youth to take innocent lives. Complete happiness and development is only possible when Muslim youths have the Quran in one hand and a computer in the other.

King Abdullah proposed to scuttle terror propaganda, saying, “We need to recognise and reject the misinformation these groups spread about Islam or any other faith. We need to take the Internet back from voices of hatred that have victimised our would with bombs and terror”.

He added, “We cannot afford to allow young people to be left without hope, trapped in isolation and vulnerable to the false promises of outlawed groups. Inclusion is the path to coexistence”.
