Sound Familiar? Congress Turns PM Modi’s Old Questions Against Him

Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi turned the tables on PM Modi, who had posed the exact same set of questions on India’s security in 2012.

It seems that the Congress has decided that they are going to beat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at their own game. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi laid down the same set of questions for Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the latter had asked former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during the run up to 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

The questions raised by Singhvi were as follows:

1. How are the Terrorists Getting Their Weapons?

Singhvi questioned the Prime Minister that if the weapons to the terrorists are supplied from across the border and the security at the international border is the responsibility of government of India, how can he allow the terrorists to get these weapons?

2. Why Doesn’t the Govt Act on Cutting Funds for Terrorists?

Singhvi said all the monetary transactions in India are under the jurisdiction of Centre. Moreover, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) monitors all the bank transactions. Singhvi asked that was the Prime Minister unable to put a check to flow of cash from foreign accounts to the terrorists?

3. How Are Terrorists Able to Infiltrate Our Borders?

Singhvi asked that since the borders are monitored by armed forces which are under Centre and the coasts are monitored by navy and coast guard which are also under Centre, why is the Prime Minister unable to stop the infiltration of terrorists from across the border?

4. Why Has The Govt Failed in Extradition of Foreign Terrorists?

Singhvi said that India has an extradition treaty with many countries which allows the government to extradite the terrorists who escaped Indian borders. Singhvi asked why has the government not been able to extradite any of the terrorists who sat across the border and planned attacks on India?

PM Modi had raised the same questions to then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during a rally at BJP’s national executive meet in Mumbai on 25 May, 2012. Will the questions that led Narendra Modi to an exemplary win in 2014 general elections come back to bite him in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls?
