It was chief minister vs chief minister in Karnataka as Siddaramaiah and Yogi Adityanath traded guns over the latter’s absence from his home state of Uttar Pradesh during a time of crisis. Following the deaths and damages caused by thunderstorm, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has cut short his Karnataka trip and rushed back to Uttar Pradesh.

At least 73 people have been killed and 91 people injured in the storm that wreaked havoc in Uttar Pradesh, snapping power and phone lines and damaging several houses. The meteorological department has predicted another dust storm in the next 48 hours in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Karnataka Chief Minister took a jibe at Yogi for politicking in Karnataka at a time of crisis in his own state.

At least 64 people have lost their lives due to a storm in Uttar Pradesh. My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. I am sorry your CM is needed here in Karnataka. I am sure he will return soon & attend to his work there.

Even former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on Adityanath for campaigning in Karnataka even as several people died in his own state. “People have elected him to power to resolve the issues of Uttar Pradesh and not to attend events in Karnataka”, tweeted Akhilesh

Adityanath has countered Siddaramaiah’s attack claiming it was a lie. He assured that he has been closely monitoring the situation in the state.

Siddaramaiah is very good at telling lies. Day before yesterday, a thunderstorm in Uttar Pradesh claimed many lives. Within 24 hours, relief was sent to victims. I have been monitoring rescue and relief operations myself. I had pre-scheduled events to attend in Karnataka.
