At least 15 people, including 10 students and 5 teachers, were injured after gas balloons exploded at the annual function of Allen Career Institute in Chandigarh on Sunday.

The acetylene-filled balloons reportedly exploded after coming into contact with an electric bulb.

The Kota based institute, in Sector 34, trains students for engineering and medical entrance examination preparations.

The students and teachers were rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32 after receiving minor burns but one of the students reportedly had a narrow escape.
