A relaxing massage after a tiring day of sightseeing might sound like a great deal, but what if it was given to you by a giant 50kg Python?

That’s the incredible experience on offer at a Philippines zoo, who are giving away the slithery ‘relaxation’ sessions to tourists brave enough to try one.

The main masseuse is an albino Burmese Python.

Slowly slithering over the body, the cold blooded snakes make for a cool, refreshing massage due to their hefty weight and low body temperature.

But it isn’t for the faint-hearted.

“They are of course known for constricting their prey, but as long as they are not coiled around you they are very friendly. This is why we have people lay on their back, allowing the snakes to slither back and forth over the stomach or back of the person,” said a worker from the Crocodile Park in Davao City, Philippines.

“The key to enjoying the snake massage is to relax, like any other massage. Burmese Pythons are very friendly, but they can sense if you are tense and that makes them uneasy.”

Renalyn Jainga, who filmed her recent trip to Crocodile Park in Davao City, Philippines, said: “It is well worth it for 100 piso ($1.80).

“After I calmed down and relaxed a bit it was very nice. The skin is very cold and soothing. But at first I was a little jumpy. The Burmese Python is native to southern and southeastern Asia. They are found in tropic and subtropical areas, usually in trees and often near water.”
