Two Muslim women in Madhya Pradesh were beaten up by Bajrang Dal workers on the Mandsaur platform, on suspicions that they were carrying beef to sell in a marketplace.

The women had nearly 30 kg meat on their person and one of the women had a cast on her arm due to a fracture.

Police was present at the time of the incident but that didn’t stop women members of the Bajrang Dal from lashing the women.

Local doctors who examined the meat concluded that it was buffalo, and not cow. The SP said that it was a social issue but that people should not be so quick to resort to vigilantism.

The Muslim women have been taken into police custody, but those who attacked them are still at large.
