Movie Review: ‘Neerja’ Is 122 Minutes of Sheer Brilliance
Neerja is 122 minutes of riveting cinema
The trailer of Neerja had us biting our nails in anticipation. And no, the climax wasn’t the reason for our nervousness. As its based on a true story, we knew how the movie would end. It was Sonam Kapoor’s performance that kept us at the edge of our seats.
Sonam Kapoor, as Neerja, melts into her role.The film further soars thanks to the magnificent supporting cast. Be it the hijackers, Neerja’s doting parents played by Shabana Azmi and Yogendra Tiku or Shekhar Ravjiani as Neerja’s on-screen lover. Ram Madhvani steers clear of quintessential Bollywood melodrama and that is Neerja’s biggest strength. For recreating the beauty of the 80’s with a stunning eye for detail and for bringing out the best in Sonam Kapoor this one is a must watch. Go for it with family and friends and a big box of tissues.
