Dinosaurs are brought to life by Japanese innovation company, ON-ART Corp in Tokorozawa, Saitama prefecture. The massive creatures are lightweight, mechanical suits, operated by specially trained pilots. From inside the dinosaur, they use a series of levers and controllers to produce lifelike movements, while a special effects team ad libs roars, growls, and breathing noises.

The massive creatures are actually mechanical suits, operated by specially trained pilots who use a series of internal levers and controls to produce lifelike movements. Used for special performances and stage shows, the dinosaurs are accompanied by “caretakers” - who occasionally get mauled.

The company has spent ten years perfecting their dino-suits; they’ve manufactured 13 so far, the most recent of which is a 26-foot-tall Tyrannosaurus.

The dinosaurs are used for special performances and stage shows, where they interact with actors portraying their “caretakers.” But ON-ART Corp hopes to eventually open a theme park, where visitors can interact with the mechanical dinosaurs.
