Jeakson Singh Thounaojam scripted history in the match against Colombia, when he became the first-ever Indian to score a goal in a FIFA World Cup match. Jeakson’s goal was the equaliser in the U-17 World Cup match in New Delhi in October, but unfortunately India lost the match 1-2.

Jeakson spoke to The Quint about his targets in the next one year. He also spoke about the excitement he felt after scoring the goal against Colombia.

When asked about the challenges he faced before the U-17 World Cup, Jeakson said that it was hard for him to leave his hometown to pursue football in Chandigarh at the age of 10.

Jeakson Singh will be playing for the Indian Arrows – a team of players from the U-17 and U-19 category – in the upcoming season of the I-League.
