With over 10,000 student visas granted between 2015 and 2016, India became Britain’s third largest source-market for international students. The numbers, however, are dwindling owing to the country’s new, stricter visa policies.

Under the new visa rules announced in November by the UK Home Office, anyone applying after 24 November under the Tier-2 intra-company transfer (ICT) category would be required to meet a higher salary threshold requirement of £30,000, up from the earlier £20,800.

The post-study stay policy has also become tougher, discouraging many prospective students.

A few from across the country react to the changes and how the new norms will affect them.
