The Quint went to the streets of Delhi to select India’s Democracy 11, a cricket team comprising of Indian politicians.

We asked people to pick a captain for their team and with popular vote our incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi secured the position. Although, Kanhaiya Kumar, Arvind Kejriwal, Sonia Gandhi were also the choice of captain for some.

Sunny paji was also a favourite among people, courtesy his ‘dhai kilo ka hath’.

To have young players in the team, people suggested names like Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav and former cricketer Gautam Gambhir.

When we asked who amongst the politicians is likely to sledge the most in the team, BJP cadre filled the position. Subramanian Swamy, Yogi Adityanath, Sadhvi Pragya, Sambit Patra were the janta’s pick.

Akhilesh Yadav was picked as an all-rounder, followed by Mayawati, Kiren Rijiju and others.

According to the people, Mamata Banerjee, Kanhaiya Kumar and Priyanka Gandhi may surprise the Opposition with their quick bouncers and confusing googlies.

Smriti Irani, Arun Jaitley and Piyush Goyal were some picks for wicket keeping.

Modi gave a tough fight to LK Advani for the position of the coach but Advani finally won.
