Mary Lalboi was born in Churachandpur district of Manipur in the early 1970s. Her parents pushed her to become an IAS officer, but her heart lay somewhere else. What gave her a high was food, and she wanted to be a chef like none other in the country. She wanted to give India a taste of north-eastern cuisine. In the 90s she moved to Delhi to start Rosang Soul Food, the one-stop shop for lip smacking north-eastern food in the capital.

Her daughter Sofia helps her run the restaurant. While Mary says she never faced any racism in Delhi, Sofia is more sceptical; for her, racism against people from he north-east is a harsh reality. This is the story of India told by Mary Lalboi and her two daughters.
