Footage has emerged from China of people trying to avoid stepping on parts of escalators, using weird and wonderful methods after a woman fell through an escalator plate in the country.

The compilation of videos, shot around the country, shows the cautious response from Chinese locals.

According to local reports, the thirty-year-old woman fell to her death through the escalator plate just after pushing her child out of danger at a shopping centre in Hubei Province on Sunday.
