A state-wide strike called by pro-Kannada groups in Karnataka disrupted normal life in the state.

The Supreme Court’s judgement on the Cauvery water sharing crisis sparked tensions between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and triggered agitations.

In an interim order, the apex court on Monday had asked the Karnataka government to release 15,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu over a period of ten days.

The ripples of the SC’s directive travelled across the water-starved state, culminating in a massive protest. Agitated citizens want the govt to consider the plight of the distraught farmers of the state.
