Capturing the powerful beauty of Mother Nature, the footage shows clouds racing across the starry sky before it is spectacularly lit up by lightning in a powerful thunderstorm.

This clip is special more so because it was shot in just six hours in the Namib Desert, which receives less than 100mm of rain a year.

Tour Guide Brendon Cremer admits he got a lot more than he bargained for when he shot the video as he’d initially only set out to film star trails.

Brendon, 34, who was leading a group of tourists in Deadvlei Sossusvlei, Namibia, at the time, said the timing was truly fortunate.

We had planned to set up for a star trail shoot, but with all the clouds moving over us and an approaching thunderstorm my focus changed and it became apparent that a timelapse may work out very nicely. It was just one single time lapse sequence of a storm approaching and then moving over Deadvlei and then slowly fading out once again.
