Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) held a ‘self-defence’ camp for women in Varanasi. About 100 women participated in the camp. They were given martial arts well as weapons training.

The organisers have claimed that the purpose of the camp was to train the women to defend their country. Recently, in Ayodhya, the Bajrang Dal had organised a similar ‘self-defence’ camp. Mahesh Sharma, the organiser and Bajrang Dal leader was arrested at that time.
