Aayush Sharma is all set to make his Bollywood debut but when he was introduced to the world, he was referred to as Salman Khan’s brother-in-law and Arpita Khan’s husband. We got a glimpse of him only when the news of Salman Khan’s youngest sister’s wedding emerged.

He had never spoken to the media but right after the trailer release of his film Loveratri, we caught up with Aayush Sharma who talked to us about nepotism and how he never thought of being an actor till Salman Khan told him.

Aayush in the latest interview takes us back to those days when he came to Mumbai to study. He tells The Quint being an actor was never on his mind, while people did tell him that he should act. He even went for an audition but he says ‘it’s not his thing’. The auditions and struggle were too much for him. Soon, he started dating Arpita and even met Salman at parties. But he didn’t take acting as a career option seriously until Salman suggested it to him.

Another topic that he spoke about was nepotism, and this new actor had absolutely no qualms in accepting the fact that he wouldn’t have made it in the big bad world of Bollywood if his brother-in-law Salman Khan had not launched him.

One thing I agree that you do get a little bit of help if you know somebody in the industry - when it comes to good guidance, choosing the right script, you get a good boost during your promotions because if you are related to someone, you get more publicity, your film gets more traction. So, it’s helpful. There are no two ways about it and I am getting a platform because of Salman bhai.
