WhatsApp, Instagram Face Global Outage; Twitter Has a Field Day

Instant messaging platform WhatsApp and photo sharing platform Instagram were restored after being down for almost 10 minutes on Friday, 19 March as scores of users took to Twitter to report the outage from across several countries.

While WhatsApp users were unable to send or receive messages, Instagram users were unable to refresh feeds.

The reason for the outage is yet unknown and an official statement from WhatsApp and Instagram is yet awaited.

However, Facebook confirmed that its platforms were experiencing problems and the extent of the outage is being ascertained.

“Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have trouble accessing some Facebook services. We resolved this issue for everyone, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”,said a Facebook spokesperson.

According to Down detector, at least 38,000 people reported issues with WhatsApp.

Twitter Flooded with Memes

Meanwhile, Twitter had a field day with several users sharing some hilarious memes.
