Xiaomi keeps making a lot of phones, and launches them at regular intervals, which means its existing products become outdated very quickly. And looking to streamline its product portfolio, the company is going to discontinue two of its existing series, to make way for newer models with better appeal to the buyers.

The company’s CEO, Lei Jun sharing this news via a Weibo post earlier this month, mentioned that Xiaomi won’t be making the Mi Mix and Mi Note series anymore. In his post, Lei stated the company will rather be focusing its energies on the Redmi, Mi MIX series, Mi 9 and the new CC series of smartphones, multiple reports suggested that.

The new Redmi K20 series phones feature big displays and will be available at an affordable price, making them the viable successors to the existing Mi Note series for the brand.

With the Mi Max series smartphones, the company was focused on giving users a large screen experience with larger than 6-inch screen. The Mi Note series never made its way to the Indian market, mostly owing to its prices above the Rs 20,000 market, where Xiaomi never managed to convince buyers in the country with its products.

The Mi Max range served itself as a portable media screen, suited for gaming as well. Xiaomi pitched the Mi Max as a tablet alternative which was easier to carry, but loaded enough to carry out the basic mobile tasks.

By discontinuing these two ranges, Xiaomi is putting all its egg in one basket with the upcoming CC series. As per reports, Xiaomi will be launching two smartphones in the series, dubbed as Mi CC9 and Mi CC9e.
