Twitter is planning to make more money by allowing advertisers to post on the application’s Explore tab, TechCrunch reported. Twitter felt that promoted tweets haven't always been lucrative, so by integrating ads in the Explore tab, the company will be able to monetise their platform better.

We are continuing to explore new ways to enhance our takeover offerings and give brands more high-impact opportunities to drive conversation and brand awareness on our platform.
Twitter spokesperson in a statement to TechCrunch.

Explore tab that emerged out of Moments was designed to make searching for trends, popular topics and the latest news much easier. Now, this tab will feature promoted trend spotlight ads that will appear twice in a day when you visit the tab and then disappear after that.

According to the TechCrunch report, Disney will be the first one to takeover Explore tab. The company will be promoting the upcoming movie Christopher Robin.

Also, with the shift to an algorithmic timeline and bigger focus on video, Twitter has slowly started gaining users to expect relevant content in every slot. Although, it is quite clear that the company is searching for additional and better ways to monetise their service, it also doesn’t want ads disrupting the user experience.
