OnePlus 3 is all set to be launched in virtual reality (VR), in a few weeks time.

During the OnePlus 2 launch, the company gave away 30,000 OnePlus Cardboard Viewers for free. And the company will repeat the move for OnePlus 3 by giving away 30,000 new Loop VR Headsets, said OnePlus in a blogpost on 23 May.

In case it wasn’t clear, the Loop VR headset is available completely free (plus shipping) right now. Hurry up, because we only have 30,000 available.

According to co-founder Carl Pei, OnePlus 3 will come out in the end of the second quarter. The launch will be in a futuristic, virtual reality spaceship called ‘The Loop’, via livestream.

The virtual reality space will only be accessible through a headset, and OnePlus said the Loop VR will offer “a more robust, immersive and comfortable experience.” Users with the VR sets will be able to buy the phone before others.

For Indian buyers, the Loop VR headsets will be available on Amazon between 3 and 7 June.

The VR trend is gaining steam in the smartphone industry, with Samsung launching the Galaxy S7 in VR at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year.

The OnePlus 3 would probably be similar to the Xiaomi Mi5, with a 3000 mAh battery and a 16MP rear camera.
