Sony’s PlayStation VR Priced at $399 Is Loyal to Console Gaming

Sony and Microsoft are busy refining their gaming consoles with features that will make their products future ready. Sony has announced the availability of its PlayStation VR headset which will be sold at $399.

The Japanese brand has officially confirmed that the VR headset will be available from October onwards. The announcement was made at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2016.

We are announcing that the PlayStation VR headset will launch in October of this year for a suggested retail price of USD $399 /CAD $549.

Sony admits the delay in introducing the product, its first in the virtual reality segment but claims that the wait will be worth it for PlayStation 4 gamers.

Today more than 230 developers are building content for PlayStation VR, from smaller independent teams to larger studios at the industry’s top publishers. We expect to have more than 50 games available at launch in October 2016 until the end of the year.

The pricing announced is only for the VR headset. The VR controllers and the PlayStation camera come at an extra cost. The consumer-ready version of the Sony PlayStation VR headset gets a 5.7-inch OLED display with full-HD resolution, supports 360-degree viewing and offers 3D audio compatibility as well.

Sony’s VR headset will be lining up against the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive this year. However, the PlayStation VR is the only headset that works exclusively with a gaming console.
