Samsung has launched its flagship Galaxy S6 and S6 Plus smartphones in India. Both the devices were launched at an event in New Delhi. With the new models, Samsung has taken a leap forward in design and also given the phones some spruced up user experience.
Here’s a look at the specifications of the new Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge:
Design: The premium S series Galaxy phones are made of metal which replaces the plush looking leather-back in the predecessor S5. The casing is made from light-weight metal used in airplanes. It features Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 both on the front and back.
Display: The devices feature a 5.1-inch Quad HD(2560×1440)Super AMOLED display at 577ppi.
Camera: There is a 16-megapixel rear camera with OIS (optical image stabilisation) and LED flash while there is a 5-megapixel front camera on board. Both the handsets come with new camera features such as quick launch, tracking AF, auto real-time HDR, f/1.9, IR detect white balance, low light video, high clear zoom, virtual shot, slow motion, fast motion, pro mode, and selective focus.
Processor: The new devices are powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7 Octa-core processor which contain two quad-core processor clocked at 2.1 GHz and 1.5GHz respectively, coupled with 3GB RAM. Both the smartphones with run on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.
Battery: The Galaxy S6 is backed by a 2550mAh battery while the Galaxy S6 Edge comes with 2600mAh battery. Both phones support wireless charging built-in, with support for WPC and PMA standards.
Storage: Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will come in storage variants ranging from 32, 64 and 128 GB. Samsung has pulled out support for microSD card slot, a feature that set Samsung phones apart from the iPhone.
Pricing and availability: The new galaxy devices will hit stores starting from April 10. However users can pre-book the devices starting today. Customers who pre-book will get benefits like one-time screen replacement within one year from the purchase date and payback points for any cash back scheme Samsung may launch in the future.
The 32 GB variant of S6 will go on sale for Rs 49,900. Its 64 Gb and 128 Gb variants will be available for Rs 55900 and Rs 61900 respectively.
Galaxy S6 Edge will be priced at Rs. 58,900 for the16 GB variant . Customers will have to pay Rs 64,900 for 64 GB and Rs. 70,900 for 128 GB.
