We’re less than 10 days away from the launch of Samsung Galaxy S8, which will be unveiled in the US. The latest Galaxy flagship from the South Korean brand is expected to come with a big design overhaul, and likely to give the home button a miss as well.

After a successful stint with the Galaxy S7 (best camera in the market), and the debacle that was the Note 7, Samsung would be hoping to get back to its winning ways.

Here’s what we know about the upcoming Galaxy phone so far.

Samsung goes Plus

Unlike any other Galaxy phones, Samsung is reportedly working on not one, but two big-size Galaxy phones this year. As we recently saw with the C9 Pro, Samsung feels that consumers are slowly but surely warming up to phones as big as 6 inches.

Going by this burgeoning interest, Samsung is said to have opted for 5.8-inch as the size for the Galaxy S8. While the Galaxy S8 Plus could get a display size bigger than 6-inch. LG’s G6 launched at the MWC 2017 gave us a glimpse into how a large size doesn’t deter brands anymore. And seems like Samsung is not against hopping on the size bandwagon.

No Home Button

As this image shows, Samsung has ditched the home button, thereby giving you increased display real estate. The size of bezels also makes the Galaxy S8 look wider and bigger than its projected size.

It’ll be interesting to see how Samsung manages to implement the virtual home button within the display and whether that’s user-friendly for a phone of this size or not.

Prices

Noted serial leakster, Evan Blass, has revealed the supposed prices of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ at 799 euros and 899 euros respectively. If these are the actual launch prices, then we expect the India prices to be north of Rs 60,000 in 2017.

Camera

Can Samsung give us a better camera than the Galaxy S7? (Photo: The Quint)

The 12-megapixel camera on the Galaxy S7 had almost every other phone in the market beat last year.

The use of a sensor with aperture of f/1.7 resulted in top notch low-light imaging. So, can Samsung better its own achievement and improve the Galaxy S8’s snapper even more? We can’t wait to see.

We’ll be covering the launch event, stay tuned for more details, India availability and official prices of the next Galaxy S flagship phone.
