PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds or PUBG has spread like wildfire ever since its launch on the mobile platform, in 2018.

Though it is not the first smartphone game to become a rage, PUBG has certainly acquired the most extreme, almost cult-like, following among its users – leaving behind previous gaming sensations like Candy Crush, Pokemon Go, Angry Birds, etc, in its dust.

So why does PUBG triumph over previous smartphone sensations? What is it about this game that has had such an extreme reaction almost all quarters, from those who play the game, to those against it. We try to analyse.
