Google has all the answers.

But are you asking the right questions?

Have you ever Googled the inventor of the Piano? Well, you don’t need to bother, at least for today.

Today is the 360th birthday of Bartolomeo Cristofori, the inventor of the Piano, and the Google Doodle today celebrates it in a unique fashion.

Bartolomeo Cristofori invented the hammer mechanism that was used to produce the high pitch and soft tones we all associate with the piano. The mechanism led to the invention of Pianoforte or Piano.

“In Italian, piano means soft, while forte means loud. Being able to change the volume was a major breakthrough,” according to Google.

The Google Doodle showcases the mechanism while an animated version of Cristofori plays the piano.

A hammer can be seen striking the string and producing sound. On the right side of the Doodle, is a sidebar which will give you options of increasing the volume of the sound on the animated piano. Scroll up, and you can see and hear the volume increase.
