Ever since Google announced the new Android O, people started to wonder what it will be called. Names like Oatmeal Cookie, Ox-tongue pastry, and even Orelletes were being tossed around. Finally, on 21 August, Android O was christened as Oreo, the world’s favourite cookie. Now, people are anxiously waiting for the Android Oreo 8.0 update on their phones.

Well, get in line! There are hundreds of Android devices out there, waiting for the update, but only a lucky few might see the ‘Oreo in their OS’ in 2017. Here are a few.

Google Pixel and Nexus Devices

The Pixel phone was made by HTC, while the Nexus 6P by Huawei
Ever since their launch, Google has been serious about the Pixel phones, and they won’t make Pixel users wait long for the Oreo update.

It’s a trend that has been followed by the American tech giant, as bringing all the latest Android updates to their Pixel phones, before releasing it in the market.

In fact, the beta version of the OS is downloadable from the android developers’ official website (if you want to try it out).

Also, as Nexus devices have always been very close to Google’s hearts,Nexus devices like the 6P and 5x will also get Android Oreo update before 2017 ends.

HMD Global made a promise to it’s customers that they will deliver regular security and OS updates for the Nokia phones.

Still not sure whether they will live up to their promise, but by what HMD is saying, we can expect the Nokia phone to get updated sooner than the others.

OnePlus 3, 3T and 5

The OnePlus 5 comes with a Snapdragon 835 processor with 6GB RAM

OnePlus have to make sure that their flagship stays shoulder to shoulder with the competition, and on account of this, we can expect the OnePlus flagship to be updated ASAP. It’s already running on Android Nougat 7.1.1.

Moto Phones

The Moto phones launched in 2017 are likely to get the Android O update

Moto flagships come with stock Android, which is why it’s likely that they will receive the latest Android O update in 2017.

Not that all the Moto phones will be updated, but most likely, the devices launched in 2017, like the Moto Z2 Play, will be priority. Also, there is a high probability that the Moto G5 and G4 will also be in the list.

LG Flagships

LG phones have also been good buddies with Android, which is why the latest OS might not keep LG waiting for long. The latest LG flagship, the LG G6, along with another LG super-phone, the V20, might be the ones to receive the update at the earliest.

HTC Phones

The HTC U11 is the world’s first “squeezable” phone

HTC USA tweeted out saying that they will be updating their devices to Android 8 very soon. Phones like the HTC U11, HTC U Ultra, and even the HTC 10 worldwide will receive the update.

They also added that the information regarding more devices will be released in the days to come.

Also, the recently launched Micromax Canvas Infinity and the Coolpad Cool Play 6 are said to receive the updates within the year.

The company officials said during the launch that the phones are well equipped with the hardware, and are ready to welcome Android’s latest OS.

And lastly, the Essential phone from the father of Android Andy Rubin is soon to hit the market, and with it’s launch right around the corner, we can expect the phone to already be bundled with the latest Android firmware.

As Rubin knows how important the OS is for the device, Essential will make sure their devices hit the market with the latest firmware.
