Mobile e-wallet Paytm faced a server malfunction on Wednesday (6 June) evening, leaving several users in a tizzy.
An official confirmed to The Quint that the platform is facing issues in its payment gateway, which will be resolved shortly.
Quoting a ‘senior executive’ at Paytm, senior journalist Chaitanya Kalbag said that the e-wallet company was allegedly facing a ‘server problem’.
Many users took to Twitter to share their woes, sharing screenshots of a timed-out payment gateway, and many other glitches.
While some were unable to make payments, several others complained of an empty balance, despite having had money.
Meanwhile, Paytm has responded to several queries on Twitter, stating that they were facing ‘technical issues’ that would be solved soon.
Paytm made huge gains in the e-wallet space soon after shock demonetisation of high value currency was announced in November 2016 by the Modi government, with several people opting to go the cashless way with digital money and transactions.
