OnePlus has announced the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro for the Indian market, with prices starting from Rs 32,999 and Rs 48,999 respectively and will be available both online and offline in the coming days.

Interestingly, the company has been touting the prowess of the Pro version device, but being close to the Rs 50,000 price mark is a big gamble, which could go either way, especially in a market like India.

After all, at these prices, OnePlus is going up against devices like the Apple iPhone XR and the Samsung Galaxy S10e. While people were concerned about the company hiking the price of its regular OnePlus phone, it’ll be intriguing to see if people buy the Pro version, at these prices.

OnePlus 7 Pro also features an in-screen fingerprint reader, similar to what we saw on the OnePlus 6T, but upgraded to Quad-HD (2160 pixels) quality. The size of the display measures at 6.7-inch and it’s a Quad-HD screen with 1440 pixels resolution. The support for 90Hz refresh rate is the bonus the bumped price tag offers.

This is also the first OnePlus phone to sport a front-facing pop-up camera but of course, this isn't the first device in the market to get this feature. Vivo and Oppo have already taken the headlines for that.

OnePlus 7 Pro also gets a pop-up front camera.

In terms of optics, the OnePlus 7 Pro carries a triple camera setup with 48, 16 and 8 megapixel sensors in tow, with aperture ranging between f/1.6 to f/2.2 respectively and optical image stabilisation (OIS) on the primary sensor is there of course.

While the readings do look impressive, OnePlus has to match them with results, which people would be expecting, when they are spending this much.

Alongside the OnePlus 7 Pro, is the regular OnePlus 7 which, as expected is an incremental upgrade over the OnePlus 6T. Improved hardware with Snapdragon 855, more RAM and storage are the usual changes and camera has been tweaked a bit with support for higher megapixel count with the new processor in tow.

All said and done, even the company might agree that the regular 7 is likely to do better in numbers, unless the 7 Pro manages to surprise us all.
