OnePlus users are well aware that its devices get assured software updates for a period of two years.

Which means that OnePlus 5 series was ideally expected to get Android Q this year, and thankfully, the company finally confirmed those possibilities via its post on the OnePlus forum earlier last week. However, this confirmation also makes it clear that OnePlus 3 and 3T users will not be getting the Android Q update, or any other Android version on their devices from now on.

This is likely to irk existing users, but it’s not like the company didn’t inform them about software updates beforehand.

Interestingly, while saying that Android Q will come to the OnePlus 5 series, the company categorically stated that users shouldn’t ask them for a concrete timeline.

For those wondering, rest assured: Android Q will also make its way to the OnePlus 5 and 5T. Just remember, there are no ETAs.

OnePlus 5 was the last recognised phone from the company to come with a headphone jack, and resembles a lot with the iPhone 7 series.

This was the successor to the OnePlus 3 series, which unfortunately will not get Android updates once Android Pie reaches the user.

OnePlus 5 gets a 5.5-inch screen, comes with Snapdragon 835 processor with 6GB or 8GB RAM and storage up to 128GB, which wasn't a bad deal in 2017. The phone comes fitted with a 20-megapixel tele-photo and 16-megapixel Sony IMX sensors, with f/1.7 and f/2.6 aperture respectively, making it ideal for low-light photography.

As for the OnePlus 3 and 3T users, it’s time to upgrade.
