The next Yu smartphone called Yuphoria was launched in India on May 12, 2015 for Rs 6,999.

Micromax’s subsidiary brand Yu, that boasts of the CynogenMod, had been creating a buzz on the internet for some time now.

The new Yu Yuphoria boasts of an excellent build quality, with a metal frame that is drop resistant. The phone is also 8.25 mm thin and weighs 143 grams.

The Yu Yuphoria comes with a 5 inch TFT IPS HD screen and sports a 1.2Ghz Quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor by Qualcomm with 2 GB RAM. This is a true 64-bit processor. The phone also has 16 GB of internal storage. The Yu Yuphoria graphics are powered by a Adreno 306 GPU.

Yu Yuphoria runs on Cyanogen 12 OS that is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. The Cyanogen 12 OS provides almost unlimited custom features on an Android smartphone.

The phone also has a centrally aligned 8 megapixel rear camera with f/2.2   and a 5 megapixel front facing camera for selfies that has a 4P lens with F/2.0 and 86 degree wide angle lens.

The phone is 4G-LTE compatible with up to 150 Mb/s speeds making it future proof. Yu Yuphoria is loaded with a high density 2230 MAH battery that the company claims will charge from 0 to 65% in just 45 minutes.

The company also launched a fitness band called the Yu Fit along side the Yu Yuphoria. Yu Fit has a OLED display and the company insists that it’s more than a fitness band. So will these new Yu products impress the buyers? The jury is out on that.

The band has features like food tracking, fitness tracking and weight tracking. Yu Fit has Healthifyme integration that will work together with the user to stay fit.

The band also gives you options to enroll with certified fitness trainers. For first 1000 users will also get a free personal trainer with the Yu Fit. Yu Fit will come at a price tag of Rs 999.

Rahul Sharma, Co-founder of Micromax,  was on fire at the launch event.

The company is gunning towards connected devices and they also introduced a health device shaped like a cassette called HealthYu.

The device is portable and has an open ecosystem that can connect to any smartphone. The Device calculates your ECG, Blood oxygen levels, blood pressure.The health device will sync with the Healthy Yu App and is priced at Rs 4,999.

The Yu Fit and the HealthYu will be available from June 2015.

Yu Yuphoria will be available on Amazon and the registrations start at 5PM on May 12, 2015  and is priced at Rs 6,999. The sale will begin on May 28, 2015.
