Google’s slated to launch the Pixel 4 in 2019 and even though we’re still four to five months away from the main launch, leaks have started popping up on the internet already.

The first possible look at the upcoming Google flagship phone gives us a glimpse into how the company is finally ready to adopt a modern design for its high-end phone.

Quite a lot of phones have already gone for a bezel-less screen design, with some even taking the pop-up camera on board, just so that the viewing space increases.

The latest leak also talks about the phone being made in two sizes which was expected. You’ll have the regular Pixel 4 and there’s the Pixel 4XL as well. Other changes with the phone will be the addition of in-display fingerprint scanner, getting rid of the physical scanner unit at the back. Not just that, the phone will also not get physical buttons for regular tasks.

This will be interesting to keep an eye, and see how Google tweaks the Android interface to support capacitive and possibly squeeze gestures.

The design changes itself will be Google moving away from the plain-vanilla design imprint of the Pixel 3 series, which launched with the ugly looking notch in 2018, but did pack a rock-solid camera.

Other expected features are the latest Snapdragon processor, with hopefully 6GB RAM and storage up to 256GB this year. But more than anything else, we’re quietly hoping Google does offer dual-SIM support with the Pixel 4 series.

We’ve seen the Samsung Galaxy S10 with the punch hole front camera, and just for the sake of modernising its design, we’ll take anything from Google this year.
