Google Maps is rolling out a new feature that will share your battery percentage when you share your location with friends.

The new feature was spotted by Android Police. It shows the phone’s battery level with the information you receive when someone shares their location with you.

How it works is that when you share your location with someone on the Google Maps app, it will show on your friend's map and he or she can use it to get directions to where you. And now, the person’s battery status will be shown right next to the distance. The icon also indicates if the phone is on charging.

Location sharing shows the battery level and indicates if your friend is charging is phone.
This new feature is useful for your friends to estimate if you will be able to receive their calls on the way or upon reaching the destination.

Android Police found the feature within the app's APK teardown. Initially, it was believed that Google would give out approximate battery levels. However, it is able to give out precise battery levels.

The feature has not been released in India yet. But you can expect it to be rolled out within the next few weeks.
