Smartphones are a vital part of everyone’s life, including children. It’s fair to say that mobile devices give parents the comfort of keeping in touch with their young ones no matter where they may be. To make life simpler for both parents and kids, an India-based phone maker has come out with a dedicated product for children.
Swipe Telecom has introduced Swipe Junior, the first-ever smartphone meant for kids. Everything about this device will remind you of your own childhood. Priced at Rs 5,999, the Swipe Junior has an interface suited to kids – simple, colourful and easy to use.
Keeping track of your child’s movements might not be the easiest thing to do but with the Swipe Junior, those concerns are gone. With the help of geotagging, you are always aware of where the kids are hanging out. Also, you can monitor the apps on the phone and even remove the ones that you think aren’t age appropriate.
Finally, there is an embedded SOS button for a one-touch call during an emergency. This way, you can let your child own a smartphone and not worry.
While kid-friendly phones are popular in the West, this is the first time that a brand has worked on a product catering to the segment in India. It will be interesting to see if parents in the country are as keen as their counterparts in the West to use a product like this.
Swipe Junior is meant only for the light and easy use of kids. It is not meant for power users or anyone else for that matter.
