Facebook has finally announced a launch date for its premier VR headsets the Oculus Rift S and the Oculus Quest which were revealed last year.

The devices were one of the highlights of this year’s Facebook Developers Conference in San Jose where Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg forayed into how these two new VR headsets will change how users look at VR gaming.

Both the headsets will be launched on 21 May and will be sold in more than 22 countries across the world. The Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift S have been priced at $399 ( Rs 27,000 approx.) each.

The new Oculus Quest comes with two storage variants.

The Oculus Quest is a standalone VR headset that was announced last year. It is able to function without any external cameras or a separate computer. Powering the hardware is a Snapdragon chipset that comes with storage options of 64GB and 128GB.

The Oculus Rift S on the other hand is a refreshed version of the 2016 model and replaces the old tracking camera system with an inside-out tracking setup.

The Oculus Rift S is an upgrade to the 2016 model.

In order to play games in the Rift S you still will need a PC although Oculus isn't changing recommended specifications. So if you already own a Rift, chances are you don't need to upgrade your computer's specifications.
