Social media platform Facebook and its applications, WhatsApp and Instagram faced the third outage of 2019 on Sunday, 14 April, with users across the world complaining of not being able to use the platforms for at least a couple of hours.

Several users were unable to refresh Facebook and Instagram, and unable to send messages on WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

Downdetector, a site that tracks website outages, reported problems with Facebook starting as early as 6:30 am (local time) in New York. The issues affected users in Asia, Europe and the US, according to down detector.

Down detector showed a similar spike in the outage for the three respective sites at the same time.

According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, there were more than 9,000 incidents of people reporting issues with Facebook. While the outage issues mainly cropped up in Europe, there were issues with WhatsApp and Instagram too, but with relatively lower count of outage reports, Reuters reported.

The social media giant was reportedly facing problems since 6:28 AM (EDT)/4:00 PM (IST).

However, Instagram and WhatsApp appeared to be working fine at the time of writing this story.
