We pay big money to get a phone with dual camera, a longer battery life, and quick charging. But that’s about to change very soon.

Qualcomm is set to deliver better things on a budget, with its latest mobile processor, Snapdragon 450, which was announced at the MWC Shanghai on Wednesday.

Over the years budget phones have become powerful, offering more storage and quality cameras, but now it’s time to take things to the next level. Here’s what you can expect from budget phones (should be within 12K) by end of this year.

Dual Camera

Honor 6X

If you’ve thought of buying the Honor 6X, 8, OnePlus 5 or the LG G6, but couldn’t because of budget constraints, then it’s time to change that narrative. With Snapdragon 450, Qualcomm claims that a budget phone can offer 13-megapixel dual cameras at the back, or a single 21-megapixel unit.

Currently, you can buy a phone for around 15K and get up to 16-megapixel only. But this is what you can expect with phones powered by Snapdragon 450 and we can’t wait to try them out.

Quick Charging

Mid-range phones packed with Snapdragon 450 will offer USB 3.0 and quick charging support. We’ve been spoilt for choice ever since Oppo and then OnePlus showed us the true power of fast charging.

Fast charging support will be available on budget phones. 

For mid-range phones like the Redmi Note 4, we’re still content with slow-charging, which is not a good thing, especially when you have to charge phones with 4000mAh battery units. Snapdragon 450 is set to change that.

Battery Life Gets Better

Smartphones with longer battery are coming soon. 

Phones powered by Snapdragon 450 will give you 4 hours of additional battery life. This clearly means that Qualcomm and Co. have worked on making the product more frugal in terms of performance, resulting in better battery life.

This ensures, brands like Xiaomi don’t have to bulk up their devices with battery units bigger than 4000mAh. Longer battery life, coupled with fast charging could be a dream come true for budget phone buyers.
