Amazon might be working on its game streaming service, a report in The Information suggests. This, if true, will put the company in contention with the likes of Microsoft, Sony, Google, Valve Corporation and NVidia.

The report, citing two people familiar with the development, said that the service will not be ready for a launch till next year at the earliest.

Last year, the company had revealed its GameOn, a platform for developers to add leaderboards, competitions and giveaways to their games. Amazon Web Services (AWS) also powers Fortnite and this development will only add to the company's expansion in the gaming sector as well.

Microsoft and Google have been the two latest entrants into the gaming scene as they announced their plans in 2018.

While Microsoft's platform claims to put console and PC games on a smartphone, Google's approach will let people play heavy games like Assasin's Creed Odyssey via Chrome. It will be interesting to see what feature Amazon gives to its platform.
