Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has declared the Samajwadi smartphone scheme which they hope could help them attract large vote bank during the 2017 UP elections. The link for scheme’s registration was launched in Lucknow, which is limited till 10 November 2016.
However, it must be noted that the phones will be given only after the party wins the election in 2017.
The Samajwadi scheme has been introduced for people below the poverty line.
According to this scheme, anybody registering will get a free Samajwadi smartphone if the party gets re-elected in the 2017 elections
In order to get the phone, you will need to register online within a month's time. The scheme works on first-come-first-serve basis. Also, while applying online, a person would need to attach their 10th standard marksheet or the marksheet provided by their high school.
If the applicant’s name is selected under the scheme then the phone will be delivered to their home.
The Samajwadi Smartphone Scheme could work in the party's favour in the upcoming UP elections. It remains to be seen if this scheme manages to hold its fort, or goes down the way their laptop initiative panned out.
