Aircel Unable to Port Users As Heavy Traffic Clogs Network
The telco is finding it hard to tackle the increasing number of complaints from users looking to switch networks.
Desperate Aircel customers looking to switch to other mobile operators are facing a tough time as network outages have crippled the process. A company official clarified the network service provider was facing some issues and they were trying to resolve it.
Some users have complained that they were unable to use the mobile number porting facility due to network issues. According to some of the customers they were neither able to make a call nor receive them.
The company outlet employees tried to convince the protesting customers, saying the rumours were spread by competitors and claimed there were no such issues.
Most of these people had postponed switching to other networks, hoping that the telco could fix the mess it was embroiled in. Many telcos had already suspended interconnectivity services with Aircel for a swell in unpaid dues, also borne out of Aircel’s incapability to foot its ever-growing bill.
Meanwhile, when contacted by PTI, an official spokesperson of Aircel, said they were trying to resolve the issue.
"Aircel is facing network issues and we are trying to find a way to resolve this at the earliest," the official told PTI. Last year, Aircel and Reliance Communications had planned to join hands but the deal did not materialise.
Aircel has put itself in a spot of bother, after recently filing for bankruptcy, which could also end up with people losing jobs at the telco. All this wouldn’t have come about, if the proposed merger of Aircel and Reliance Communications had gone ahead.
