Here’s Why Xiaomi’s 55-inch Mi TV 4 Will Now Cost You Rs 44,999
Xiaomi has increased the prices of its Mi TV 4 smart television and the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India.
Xiaomi’s affordable 4K smart TV in India is becoming slightly costlier from this week onwards. The brand has announced that its sleek-looking 4K TV will now cost Rs 44,999 in the country, which is a Rs 5,000 price hike for its flagship TV product in the market.
In addition to increasing the price of Mi TV 4, Xiaomi has also hiked the price of Redmi Note 5 Pro by Rs 1,000. Both these products have seen a price bump because of increase in import duty on PCBAs in the country, as highlighted by Xiaomi on Monday, 30 April.
The company’s CEO Manu Kumar Jain also highlighted that with this price increase, Xiaomi will look into meeting the excess demand for these products. He even tweeted it out recently.
Interestingly, the price revision doesn’t affect Redmi Note 5, which costs Rs 9,999 in the market or the Mi TV 4A series, which starts from Rs 13,999.
The Mi TV 4 has got an aluminium alloy frame, bundled with stand and brushed metal finishing at the back. They have used Samsung’s frameless panel with no bezels, which, according to Xiaomi, make the Mi TV 4 38 percent slimmer than the Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone.
Xiaomi is offering two HDMI ports on the television, and for connectivity, you can choose from Ethernet, Wi-Fi and even Bluetooth to pair the TV’s remote and even external wireless speakers or headphones.
Xiaomi is offering its product in the Indian market with a customised version of Android, which has been layered underneath its user interface called the PatchWall.
While this TV is running on Android, Xiaomi isn’t using any of the Google services and therefore, you won’t find Google Play Store on the Mi TV 4, and will have a hard time sideloading any of the usual apps.
