MWC 2019: Oppo Launches New Camera Tech With 10X Lossless Zoom
Oppo has announced its new three camera setup with OIS that will be available on a high-end phone in 2019.
Oppo is the first mobile brand to kick start proceedings before the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 begins from 25 February onwards in Barcelona. The Chinese mobile giant has showcased its 10x lossless camera technology for smartphones, and talked about its 5G device, both coming later this year.
The company has joined hands with Qualcomm for its Snapdragon 855 processor to make a consumer-centric device in 2019.
But we’re excited to see more of Oppo’s imaging quality, especially with its latest technology announcement for mobile devices which supports three cameras at the back, and promises lossless quality, even while zooming into a photo.
In addition to packing a 48-megapixel main sensor, Oppo will offer its upcoming devices with an ultra-wide lens, as well as a telephoto lens.
Interestingly, Oppo says that not only the main camera, but even the telephoto lens will support optical image stabilization (OIS) which will ensure that photos don’t get blurred out while capturing with zoom set in. The ultra-wide lens covers up to 120-degree,
Oppo says its camera technology can cover broad-range of focal length from 16mm to 160mm seamlessly, which describes the 10X lossless zoom feature that its upcoming high-end phones will support. But in addition to this, Oppo talked about how it has crammed in all this technology into a thin form factor.
It basically has solved the difficulty of reducing thickness of phone by using periscopic module which uses a unique prism lens.
The company also mentioned the use of a 66mm thick camera module, with D-cut optical lens, that helps in reducing the thickness of telephoto lens without compromising on image quality.
With all the talk about use of artificial intelligence in cameras, Oppo has fitted its latest camera optics with two AI motors; one for the main camera, the other on the wide-angle lens.
