Honor has upped it’s game in the past couple of months with some major launches like the 7x and also the Honor View 10. Now, it’s looking to deliver that decisive blow with the launch of the Honor 10.

The device has been launched but is yet to come to India.

The Honor 10 has been launched for Rs 32,999 in the Indian market and will be available starting 16 May. We got our hands on the smartphone and here is our first impressions of the Honor 10.

Design & Display

There’s nothing new in the design of the Honor 10. It sports the same bezel-less design with the ‘iPhone like’ notch at the top that also houses the front camera and the speaker.

The Honor 10 comes with a Kirin HiSilicon 970 octa-core processor

What is good about the design is the home button which is very smartly disguised in the chin of the phone. It doesn’t have any haptic feedback, but it’s quite responsive. The home button also acts like a fingerprint scanner.

The Honor 10 comes with a 5.8-inch full HD+ display that’s vibrant and outputs great colours.

Performance & Storage

The Honor 10 is a powerful device as it comes with the latest octa-core Kirin HiSilicon 970 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM. There is plenty of storage in this one. When I say plenty, I mean 128GB, which is more than enough.

The Honor 10 sports a Type-C charging port

It supports dual nano SIMs and runs the latest version of Android - Oreo 8.1.

I really didn’t have much trouble using the device as it handles multi-tasking and high definition games with ease. What I really don’t like is the user interface, which doesn’t appeal at all.

I am still hopeful that one day Honor will make some changes in that department.

Camera & Battery

On the rear is a dual 24+16-megapixel camera that comes with AI (artificial intelligence). There is a major difference in the pictures taken as they look more vibrant and enhanced with AI enabled.

It’s a notch yet again!

I was really disappointed by the fact that the phone doesn’t support super slo-mo video where other phones which are in direct competition do come with this feature.

The front comes with a 24-megapixel camera with a bevy of modes you can play with. It’s a good shooter, no doubt.

As for back-up, the Honor 10 comes with a 3,400 mAh non-removable battery. Although it didn’t trouble us during our time with the phone, but a FHD+ display is bound to take a heavy toll on the battery juice.

Initial Verdict

Honor is still trying to make ‘the perfect smartphone.’ The Honor 10 comes very close to getting the honours, but at Rs 32,999, it is in dangerous territory where the likes of the OnePlus 5 and 5T are dominating.

Yes, it’s a good camera phone and also sports a wonderful design. If you are willing to ignore the buggy UI and can ‘tolerate’ the extra bling at the phone’s back, then you can definitely consider the Honor 10.
