So, it turns out, Royal Enfield was never working on a 750-cc engine, which was supposed to be revealed with the rumoured Interceptor 750.

Instead, the famed-Bullet maker has announced its 650-cc twin engine unit that is likely to make waves with the upcoming high-powered range of Classic and Cafe Racer models.

The bikes have already been teased by Siddharth Lal, CEO of Royal Enfield, with a special mention of 7.11, which is on Tuesday. This 648-cc parallel twin, air-cooled engine will make its debut in the upcoming series of Royal Enfield bikes, expected to be showcased at EICMA in Milan this week.

Royal Enfield (RE) claims that the 650-cc engine has been designed to match the right balance between power and usability, making it ideal for urban conditions. This 648-cc parallel twin cylinder engine has been developed by RE’s UK Technology Centre, along with the team based in Chennai.

The new platform gets a 4-stroke, single overhead cam, air-cooled 648-cc parallel twin engine, which according to RE is capable of 47BHP of power and 52Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with fuel injection in tow.

EICMA will play host to the first-ever Royal Enfield bikes with 650-cc engine, and we can’t wait to see when they come to India, and of course, how RE plans on pricing them.
