Renault has tasted success in the Indian compact SUV segment and entry level hatchback segment with their Duster and Kwid models. According to their latest announcement, new versions of both these models will début at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.
There have been rumours surrounding the Kwid that an automatic transmission (AMT) version is coming soon, along with a 1000cc variant.
Currently, the Kwid is powered by a three cylinder 800cc engine that claims to deliver 25.7 km/l of fuel efficiency. The car goes up against the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and Hyundai’s Eon in India.
The Duster, on the other hand, has begun to look dated as compared to the new offerings in the compact SUV segment like the Ford EcoSport and the Hyundai Creta.
Hence, it will be interesting to see how these cars fare when it comes to catching eyeballs at the expo and racking up sales figures, when they enter the market.
The Kwid will be launched on Feb 3, whereas the Duster will be launched on Feb 4.
