Porsche Launches New 911 Range, Prices Start at Rs 1.82 Crore

The more things change, the more they stay the same is a saying that can be applied to the iconic Porsche 911 – a car whose overall design hasn’t changed much since 1963. Porsche India has just launched the 8th generation 911 in India.

The Porsche 911 Carrera S is priced at Rs 1.82 crore ex-showroom and the convertible variant, the Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet is priced at Rs 1.99 lakh ex-showroom.

You have to be a die-hard Porsche fan to be able to spot the changes. Heck, it’s like playing spot the difference. So what’s new with the 2019 Porsche 911?

The new 911 is wider and flatter.

The design looks like a modern iteration of the original Porsche. The tail-lamp stretches across the rear like the original design. The front is more squared off and the car sits wider and flatter.

It comes with 20 inch wheel rims in front and massive 21 inch ones at the rear. The wheel arches are a little more flared in the new one.

The rear-engine, rear-wheel drive Porsche 911 comes with a 3-litre, six-cylinder twin-turbo petrol motor that puts out 450 PS of power and 530 Nm of torque. This is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Porsche claims the 911 can do 0-100 kmph in about 3.7 seconds and can hit a top speed of 308 Kmph. The Porsche 911 will compete with the Audi R8, Lamborghini Huracan and Nissan GT-R primarily.
