The E220D also gets a maintenance package worth Rs 76,600 that takes care of annual maintenance costs with unlimited mileage.
Mercedes has extended the wheelbase of the E-Class sedans in India, as most of the customers in this segment prefer chauffeur-driven cars. The Mercedes E220D is powered by a 2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that puts out 194 bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque. It comes with a nine-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. The car has a claimed top speed of 240 kmph.
One of the key highlights of the Mercedes E-Class is its air suspension – called Air Body Control – which offers good ride comfort, making it a good chauffeur-driven car. The long-wheelbase sedan measures 5,063 mm in length, which provides good rear seat legroom.
Complimenting this is a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play connected to a Burmester 3D surround-sound system. It also gets ambient lighting for the right mood and four zone climate control for the right temperature. The rear seats can also be electrically reclined.
Yes, the best place in this car is the rear seat! The power specifications are not that hot and if a buyer is looking for a more powerful E-Class sedan, it would be better to pick the E350D. However, for those content to hand the car over to a driver, the E220D is a car to consider.
