Jaguar Land Rover’s latest Range Rover SUV – the Velar – has made its way to the Indian market with a starting price tag of Rs 78.83 lakh (ex-showroom).

This premium SUV comes in four variants, two in diesel and two in petrol. Velar’s two-litre or three-litre engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

We got a chance to check out the latest SUV in the Range Rover family, and here’s a first detailed look at it.

The Velar was launched globally a few months back.
Velar is a five-seater long-trailing SUV.
The SUV has sculpted lines that flow to the back, forming a coupe-like style.

Range Rover Velar is capable of churning up to 296 BHP and a staggering 700NM of torque (all models inclusive), going from 0 to 100 km/hr in 6.5 seconds, with a top speed of around 241 km/hr.

The signature Land Rover front grille is prominent and a real eye-catcher.
The floating indicator also makes its way to the Velar.

Come inside and you’re greeted with plush leather from all corners.

Velar gets two 10.1-inch screens for navigation, multimedia and basic driving functions.

Velar’s design aesthetics are requisites of a high-end SUV.
The digital instrument panel is simple yet informative.
Velar has no physical buttons, instead, you get two 10-inch multi-purpose screens.
You can even set climate control or change driving mode on this screen.
Navigation duties are taken care of by the one on the top.
Range Rover Velar comes in two and three-litre engine variants.
While the top-end model of the Velar will cost you around Rs 1.37 crore (ex-showroom) the basic model can be purchased at Rs 78.83 lakh (ex-showroom).
