Kawasaki on Friday, 20 July launched its updated Ninja 300 with ABS and a massive price cut, retailing the bike at Rs 2.98 lakh. The price cut can be attributed to local assembly for the bike. The updated version comes with fresh graphics and paint options and gets ABS – all of that at Rs 62,000 less than the previous 300cc bike.

The new Ninja comes in two colour options – a lime green shade and a plasma blue colour. It gets an an all new instrument panel, heat management technology, slipper clutch and gets ZX-10R like dual headlamps.

The ride height has been lowered by 5mm, but the bike is 7 Kg heavier than the outgoing model at 179 Kg.

The engine remains the same as the previous Ninja 300. The 296cc twin cylinder engine churns out 38 Bhp of power at 11,000 rpm and 27 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission with slipper clutch. There is a 290 mm disc brake at the front while a 220 mm disc does the duty at the rear wheel. The new dual channel ABS comes standard.

The bike will compete with the Yamaha R3 which retails at Rs 3.48 lakh (ex-showroom India). It also competes with the BMW G310R on price. Globally, the 400cc variant is the replacement for the older Ninja 300.
